Description
Kola nut / Obi abata or Orji is the fruit of the kola tree, native to tropical rainforests in West Africa. It is an important cultural symbol in many African societies and is traditionally used in rituals, ceremonies, and as a gesture of hospitality. The kola nut contains natural caffeine and was historically used as a stimulant, and its extract was a key ingredient in the original recipes for cola soft drinks.
Kola nuts are bitter when chewed but release more flavor and caffeine as they are chewed. They are also sometimes used in herbal medicine for energy and digestion.
