Description
Yam is a starchy, tuberous root vegetable from the Dioscorea genus, widely grown in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and parts of the Americas. It has rough, brown skin and white, pale white or yellow flesh, depending on the variety. Yams are rich in carbohydrates and are commonly used in dishes like boiled, mashed, or fried preparations. They are distinct from sweet potatoes, despite common confusion between the two.
Note: Yam is sold per kg not by tuber. A tuber of yam is often from 1kg above. A tuber can be 1kg, 1.5kg, 2kg etc
